Ready to go! Together with its partners ped-world e.V. and Viva con Agua, the Water Foundation will ensure that 13 schools in Tanzania will have a continuous water supply and sanitary facilities in the future. In January 2019, the Water Foundation already sent five CloudFisher Mini fogcollectors worth 39,000 Euros to the Babati region. Peter Trautwein from the WasserStiftung and experts from the ped-world association will be responsible for setting up the fog collectors, water tanks and filter systems on site. In order to sustainably secure the project, so-called WASH training sessions will be conducted with the local people on how to properly handle water supply and hygiene. And the Hamburg all-profit organisation Viva con Agua is providing a total of 563,000 Euros as a sponsor for the implementation of the project from 2019 to 2022. Water Foundation Board Member Beate Grotehans is pleased to have found two experienced and committed partners for this project: „A total of over 4,000 schoolchildren aged between six and 25 will benefit from this cooperation project.“
Difficult conditions on the Qameyu plateau in the Babati region
The young people usually spend two hours fetching water for school and thus miss the lessons. A water supply through wells is not possible in the Tanzanian high region at over 2,000 metres above sea level. The water from streams is also contaminated to a large extent and is not sufficient for the supply. But due to the frequent fog phases, the area is predestined for the use of fog collectors for water extraction. The first fog collector developed by industrial designer and foundation member Peter Trautwein, a large CloudFisher Pro, was installed in Tanzania as early as 2017 and has been reliably supplying water to the Secondary School in Qameyu ever since.
Experienced technical partner: ped-world

The association has been using the CloudFisher technology since 2017. The institution, organized as a project platform, has been active in Tanzania for ten years and has a lot of experience. Founder and President Bernhard Küppers will take over the local project management. (Read more: http://ped-world.de/)
