People in Ethiopia are also struggling with water shortages. Around 9,000 people in Dirre Inchini are dependent on unclean water sources. During the dry season, 30 percent of these sources have no water at all. This is because the groundwater level drops. One reason for this is that tree cover has been reduced from 100 Weiterlesen
The Repanas nature reserves are a complete success! To combat the water shortage in the Peruvian highlands, we have been working with the local people since November 2021 to set up five protected areas at an altitude of 3,000 meters. Ernst Frost, founder and benefactor of the WaterFoundation, is stepping down from the Board of Trustees, to which he moved from his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2018. In July 2024, Kerstin Anker, left the Board of Trustees – a woman who has accompanied the work of the WaterFoundation since its beginnings as a lawyer, first as an honorary member of the Board of Directors for many years from 2004 and as a member of the Board of Trustees since 2016. The WaterFoundation is launching the new project “Change through forest and water” in the Bolivian Amazon region, which will run from August 2024 to September 2026.
