Trees are important in the ecological interplay between forests and water. They prevent soil erosion, help store groundwater and are CO2 dust extractors. In the spirit of sustainability, the WaterFoundation also establishes water and nature reserves in its water supply projects.
In Dirre Inchini (Ethiopia) alone, we will plant 500,000 trees in the next few years! In January 2022, our large nature and water conservation project “Repanas” has already started in the Peruvian mountain region. Similar renaturations are being planned in the Bolivian Amazon region.
